This trailblazing project brings LGBTQ inclusion to health and human services in the state of Minnesota, creating the “Minnesota Health and Human Services LGBTQ Standards of Inclusion” (SOI) together with the guidance of an advisory board, a community review board, and a government review board. Only a handful of states have attempted similar work, putting RHI at the forefront of LGBTQ inclusion in health and human services.

SOI Advisory Board members: Alex Jackson Nelson, Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd, Barbara Satin, Dr. Dionne Hart, Dr. Eli Coleman, Erin Wilkins, Dr. John Knudsen, Khalid Adam, Nathalie Isis Crowley, Peek Ehlinger,Sandra Laski, Dr. Eric Meininger, Dr. Mauricio Cifuentes

SOI Coordinator: Lovel Trahan, MPH, MPP

SOI Project Manager: EJ Olson, MA

The Standards of Inclusion development team consists of two staff from Rainbow Health Initiative (RHI) and 13 members of the Advisory Board. The members of the board are from various backgrounds and bring a wealth of LGBTQ health experience to this project. Each group had a particular role on the standards. RHI staff are conducting literature reviews of current best practice standards across the country as well as within Minnesota, in addition to reviewing existing data regarding LGBTQ health disparities and experiences of healthcare.
