Dr. Eli Coleman speaking after receiving the inaugural Rainbow Health Initiative Health Advocate Award

  Dr. Eli Coleman, Director of the Program in Human Sexuality at the University of Minnesota Medical School was presented with the Rainbow Health Initiative's inaugural Health Advocate Award. The award is given to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and vision in addressing the health care disparities of the GLBT community. Dr. Coleman was presented with the award last December at the initiative's health forum held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on December 8. Dr. Coleman was recognized for his long record of service to the community through his groundbreaking research on numerous GLBT health issues.

Dr. Coleman is the recipient of several awards and academic citations including the Surgeon General's Exemplary Service Award in 2002. Additionally, he is the editor of the Journal of Psychology and Human Sexuality.
