Download the Fruit Bowl print-quality flyer On June 26th, Fruit Bowl will take place at Elsie’s Bowling Center, located at 720 Marshall St. NE in Minneapolis, and will be full of fun-filled festivities for all members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ), and allied communities. Free bowling, food, karaoke, prizes and more will be available to the community, while special guest, the fabulous Mrs. Pederson from the web blog and pod cast Heres-Margie.com, will MC the event. People may sign up to bowl individually or on a team. Teams must pre-register by June 20th to grantee a chance to bowl.
Loretta Worthington, Director of Programs for RHI, noted that an event like this is a much-needed event for the LGBT community. “Fruit Bowl was developed to address the high prevalence of tobacco and alcohol use in LGBTQ communities. Around pride season, everyone should have a chance to celebrate. We have members of our community who are in recovery from substance abuse, who have young children, or who may want to have healthier alternatives around pride that do not include the use of alcohol and tobacco. This is a chance for people to come out and enjoy an event that is both alcohol and tobacco free and fun for everyone of all ages!”
